Terms of Service

What the ₹999 reservation covers, when refunds apply, and the rules for using this site.

Last updated 26 October 2026Questions: contact@tanuai.in

01About these terms

1.1These terms are an agreement between you and Tanu, which runs tanuai.in from India. They cover your use of the site and any reservation you place through it.

1.2By using the site or paying the reservation amount, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not reserve.

1.3The pre-order page also shows the price, the shipping year and the refund window. Those details form part of this agreement.

1.4We may update these terms. The version that applies to your reservation is the one published on this page on the day you pay, and changes apply only to reservations made after the date at the top of the page.

02What a reservation is

2.1₹999 reserves a place for you in the first batch of Tanu devices. It is a booking fee, not the price of the device.

2.2It does not buy a device and it does not fix the final price. We will confirm the final price in writing before we ask you to pay the balance.

2.3Each reservation covers one device.

2.4If we cannot deliver to your pincode, we will refund the reservation amount in full.

03Price and payment

3.1All amounts are in Indian rupees. The amount you are charged is the amount Razorpay shows you before you confirm the payment.

3.2Payments are processed by Razorpay. We receive the order id, payment id, amount and status, but never your card, UPI or bank details. Razorpay's terms apply to the payment itself.

3.3If money leaves your account but you do not get a confirmation, email us with the payment id from your bank message. We will check it against Razorpay and either confirm the reservation or refund the amount.

04Cancellation and refunds

4.1You can cancel for a full refund within 7 days of payment. Email contact@tanuai.in with your name, the email or phone number you used, and the payment id. Replying to the Razorpay receipt works too.

4.2After 7 days the reservation amount is non-refundable, except where clause 4.4 applies or where Indian consumer law gives you a right to a refund.

4.3We approve refunds within 3 business days. Your bank or UPI provider usually takes another 5 to 7 business days to credit the money. Refunds go back to the method you paid with, in rupees.

4.4If we cancel Tanu or stop taking pre-orders, every reservation is refunded in full, whenever it was paid.

05The product is still being built

5.1Tanu is in development. Features, materials, dimensions and the shipping date can change between now and delivery.

5.2Images, renders and descriptions on this site show the current direction, not a final specification. We will publish the final specification before shipping.

5.3A reservation does not guarantee a particular feature or finish. It holds your place and your price, as described above.

06Shipping and delivery

6.1We expect to ship in 2027. That is an estimate, and hardware schedules move; we will email updates as the date firms up.

6.2Before dispatch we will confirm your delivery address and collect the balance. The pincode you gave is used to check that we can deliver to you.

6.3Delivery time after dispatch depends on your address and the courier. Risk in the device passes to you when it is delivered.

6.4If we cannot reach you to confirm delivery after several attempts, we may cancel the reservation and refund the amount paid.

07Using the site

7.1Use the site the way a customer would. Do not try to break it, flood it with requests, scrape it in bulk, or get around the payment step.

7.2Do not use the pre-order form to test stolen card details, or to place reservations you have no intention of paying for.

7.3Reservations are personal and cannot be sold or transferred without our written consent. We may cancel reservations that look fraudulent, abusive, or made for resale.

7.4Journal articles are for reading. You may quote a short passage with a link back to the article, but not republish a post in full or use our words to sell something.

08Journal and intellectual property

8.1The Tanu name and mark, the design of this site, and the text and images we publish belong to Tanu or are used with permission.

8.2You get a limited, personal, non-exclusive licence to view the site and its content. Nothing beyond that is granted.

8.3The journal may include photographs or material licensed from other people. Those keep their own terms.

09Third-party services

9.1Razorpay processes payments, Sanity stores journal content, Google Sheets holds the reservation record, and a hosting provider serves the site. We choose them carefully but do not control how they run their services.

9.2Links to other sites are there for convenience. Their terms and privacy practices are theirs, not ours.

10Availability and mistakes

10.1We try to keep the site up, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. Parts of it may go offline for maintenance, or change or disappear over time.

10.2If a price or availability shown on the site is obviously wrong, we may correct it. You can then cancel the reservation for a full refund.

11Disclaimers

11.1The site and its content are provided as they are. We do not promise that it is free of errors, or that every statement stays current after the date at the top of this page.

11.2Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. Where these terms and Indian consumer law disagree, the law wins.

12Liability

12.1To the extent Indian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, or loss of data arising from your use of the site.

12.2Our total liability for any claim connected to a reservation is limited to the amount you paid for that reservation.

12.3Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law.

13Governing law and disputes

13.1These terms are governed by Indian law, and the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka have jurisdiction.

13.2If you are a consumer, you may also complain in the district where you live, as the Consumer Protection Act allows.

13.3Write to contact@tanuai.in first. Most problems are settled in a couple of emails, and we aim to answer within 30 days.

13.4You can also register a grievance with the National Consumer Helpline at consumerhelpline.gov.in or on 1915.

14Grievance officer and contact

14.1Grievance Officer, Tanu, contact@tanuai.in. Complaints are acknowledged within 48 hours and answered within 30 days.

14.2Our postal address and telephone number are available from the same email address if you need them for a formal notice.

15General

15.1If a clause is found unenforceable, the rest of these terms stay in force.

15.2If we do not enforce a clause on one occasion, we can still enforce it later.

15.3These terms, the privacy policy, and the details shown at checkout are the whole agreement about a reservation.

15.4If Tanu's business is restructured, we may transfer our rights and obligations to the entity that takes it on. We will post a notice on this page first.

15.5These terms are written in English. Any translation we publish is for convenience only.

That is the whole document. If something in it is unclear, write to contact@tanuai.in and we will answer in plain language.
